Plant reproduction Animals typically produce gametes directly by meiosis. Male gametes are called sperm, and female gametes are called eggs or ova. In animals, fertilization follows immediately after meiosis. Plants on the other hand have mitosis occurring in spores, which are produced by meiosis. The spores germinate into the gametophyte phase. The gametophytes of different groups of plants vary in size; angiosperms have as few as three cells in pollen, and mosses and other so called primitive plants may have several million cells.
Plants have an alternation of generations where the sporophyte phase is succeeded by the gametophyte phase. The sporophyte phase produces spores within the sporangium by meiosis. Flowering plants[ edit ] Flowers are the sexual organs of flowering plants. Flowering plants are the dominant plant form on land and they reproduce either sexually or asexually. Often their most distinguishing feature is their reproductive organs, commonly called flowers.
The anther produces pollen grains which contain the male gametophytes sperm.

My class were studying a topic on the organisation of sport in the UK and were struggling to get to grips with all of the various organisational bodies and their roles. I therefore decided to have an interim revision session with a difference and used speed dating as the vehicle for this. I created seven questions based on what they had already learnt. As each student came into the class, they were given one question each. They were asked to sit at a table with others who had the same question.
There are 24 in the group so roughly 3 students per question.

Ted feared his wife Maria wasn’t hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not being quite sure how to approach her, Ted privately went to see their family doctor to discuss the problem. Stand about 40 feet away from Maria, and say something in a normal conversational speaking tone to see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response. So, Ted walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away.
So he walks right up behind her. What are some recurring complaints you have about your spouse and vice-versa? Whose fault is it? Is one of you willing to try to change? We decided that a Speed-Friendshipping activity would be fun and help the youth to get to know one another. Today I am sharing my Speed-Friendshipping Printables. We were scared that the youth might not come if we told them that we would be having a Speed-Friendshipping activity, so we decided not to include that on the invitation.
For the invitation I went with a pretty simple design, but I love it!

Often when I give talks about simplifying one’s life by reducing clutter and letting go of extra stuff, people ask about memorabilia.
A blog from a teacher concerned, as we all are, to squeeze some genuine education around the edges of all the other stuff that fills our time these days. Saturday, May 06, How to teach a perfect sample lesson As interview season comes round again, I was thinking about how many ‘sample lessons’ I have seen over the last few years in my capacity as a middle-manager. And how many perfectly decent applicants have shipwrecked themselves in 20 short minutes by completely missing the mark in this brutal but necessary ordeal.
These sample lessons are a relatively recent phenomenom in teaching recruitment I went looking for my first job in the early 90’s and was never once asked to do one. However, I can’t believe how ill-equipped most newly qualified teachers are to deliver them. True, I have seen some very good examples and am in fact working with brilliant colleagues who taught those very lessons. But surely a half-decent teacher training institution should cover this?
As I have now been blogging for over four months, I have delusions of significance As recruiting teachers, we sometimes feel a wave of whinging and wimpering coming off a candidate at the whole prospect of the lesson Don’t treat it as such. Want to know how to ace a sample lesson? Think about what we are looking for.
Recently the subject of guys and breakups came up and Sabrina and I went back and forth about what guys generally go through when they breakup. Simple enough to say, but I know plenty of women will talk about how some guy came off like an insensitive jackass after the relationship fell apart because of his actions post-breakup. If a guy is profoundly obnoxious or terrible after a breakup, it is most often a testament to how rough the breakup was on him.
Some people cope by lashing out. Jerry Seinfeld once said that breaking up a relationship needs to be like taking off a Band-aid — One motion:

Lower levels are very literal and need time to prep, but my upper levels get a shorter prep time and often use alter-egos instead of their true personality. It makes it hysterical. I set up the room with long tables with girls on one side and boys on the other so they are facing each other. For example, if you have 18 guys and 12 girls, you will need 3 guys to be on the girl side. Here is the super basic form that I used with Spanish I to plan their answers and questions.
Random Stories – This is not fancy, but is a wonderful way to get the kids speaking. I divide the students into different groups and give them each a photograph. The photos are usually of landscapes, street scenes, etc. Students then work together to come up with stories about the picture.
